Resources
This list was created for a 2010 “Crime and the Media” course at the University of Maryland-University College. It represents an array of material available via the internet and scholarly resources. It will be updated as new material becomes available.
An emerging emphasis is placed on social media and media coverage of crime. Social media is being used by a growing number of news sites with considerable implications for criminal justice and government agencies. Conversely, a growing number of criminal justice agencies are employing social media for proactive and reactive purposes. See http://media.csosa.gov for an example.
